Steve Smith, Alan Ford and Les Sims formed Tylas Cyndrome when they were teenagers. As often happens, their lives moved on and all three went their separate ways for many years.

Steve continued to play with local Swindon bands and also as one half of the very successful Berlin School unit "VoLt" along with Michael Shipway.

The three members reunited in 2009 and Steve suggested they work together on some ideas he had for a collection of EM tracks which he had been working on. Subsequently "Phoenix Arising" was released in 2011 on the Groove Unlimited label.

Primarily a studio project, the opportunity to perform on stage came in 2013 when the band were featured as part of a VoLt showcase - featuring selections from  all the duo's side projects and culminating in a piece by the collaboration dubbed "ViTaL" (VoLt including Tylas Cyndrome and Lamp).

The showcase was performed in 2013 - initially at Awakenings (Burton on Trent) then at E-live (Oirschot, Netherlands). This second performance coincided with the release of a second album "Pools of Diversity".

A selection of outtakes from the two albums - "37+4D+n=1EP" - was self released via Bandcamp in 2016.
